What Happens During Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal therapy may be recommended when the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected or damaged. This can occur because of deep decay, a crack in the tooth, repeated dental procedures, or trauma to the area.

Treatment begins with a detailed examination and digital imaging to assess the condition of the tooth. Once the area is comfortably numbed, the infected tissue is carefully removed from inside the tooth. The inner canals are then cleaned, disinfected, and sealed to help prevent future infection. In many cases, a dental crown is recommended afterward to strengthen and protect the treated tooth. Our team will explain every step of the process and answer any questions you may have along the way.

FAQs About Root Canal Therapy

Modern root canal therapy is designed to be comfortable and is performed using local anesthesia. Most patients find that the procedure feels similar to receiving a dental filling, and it often provides relief from the pain caused by infection.
